So when he and fellow indie directors Robert Rodriguez, Allison Anders, and Alexandre Rockwell decided to team up for an auteur anthology of four stories in the same hotel, Miramax agreed and the movie was released Christmas of 1995. But the release was small given the names behind it, and it quickly faded into the background.
